Religious Education for May 18, 2008
OPENING WORSHIP CIRCLE All youngsters participating in religious education classes are welcome to join our opening worship circle from 10:00am to 10:20am. This Sunday, Carol Martin and Jim FitzGerald will lead our opening ritual that will include lighting the chalice, reviewing our UU principles, sharing our joys and concerns, AND selecting an animal (or animals) that will be donated on behalf of First Parish Unitarian Universalist in Cohasset. Please join us in the Atkinson Room at 10:00am, this Sunday, May 18th.
GRADES: Pre-K – 6th
SPECIAL ONE ROOM SCHOOLHOUSE: UU SCAVENGER HUNT
Using everything they’ve learned from this year’s RE program along with their own wit and creativity, youngsters will team up together to engage in a Unitarian Universalist RE SCAVENGER HUNT. The Senior High Youth Group, RE teachers and volunteers will all help “referee” this fun filled morning. All Parish youth are invited to join us for this special One Room Schoolhouse, this Sunday, May 18th at 10:20am in Trueblood Hall.
GRADES: 7th & 8th
OUR WHOLE LIVES (OWL) First Parish Unitarian Universalist 7th and 8th graders are participating in this critically acclaimed human sexuality education curriculum. Students from First Parish Unitarian Universalist of Cohasset, First Parish/Old Ship of Hingham and Second Parish Unitarian Universalist of Hingham meet weekly at Old Ship with trained OWL facilitators to learn a comprehensive approach to sexuality and relationships. Because this curriculum is so intensive and group cohesiveness is so critical, all participants register by September.
GRADES: 9th through 12th
SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP All First Parish Unitarian Universalist 9th through 12th graders are invited to participate in First Parish UU's Senior High Youth Group. High school students meet regularly to build a closely knit caring community and to get involved in a number of community outreach initiatives and social justice activities.

ENOUGH $ TO DONATE A HEIFER?
Thanks to the generosity of First Parish youngsters and congregation members, RE’s fundraising project for Heifer International may very well exceed $500 – allowing us to purchase a heifer and some other donations for a family in need. To reach this goal, the children’s opening worship circle will include the passing of our heifer donation jug. Children are being encouraged to do an extra chore around the house or help keep their rooms clean with the possibility of earning some allowance money that can be brought to the worship circle on Sunday morning and donated to the Heifer Project.
On Sunday, May 18th, the children participating in the RE program will decide how the donations will be used within the various Heifer International programs. For more information, visit www.heifer.org.
