Please join us for a presentation sponsored by one of our Circle Ministry groups entitled Biochar: A Centuries-old Modern Day Miracle

Date:  Sunday, May 19th – 11:30 -12:30
Location:  Trueblood Hall

Presenter Debbie Cook fortuitously stumbled upon biochar eight years ago while doing research on healthy soils in her capacity as Director of the Greenscapes program, a Massachusetts state-wide land use and water conservation program. Debbie is an avid proponent and distributor of biochar – a soil enhancer with properties of carbon sequestration.

In this presentation you will learn what biochar is, what it does, how it is made, and exactly why it is a miracle.  You will travel to the indigenous villages of Peru to learn about the biochar ovens being built throughout the northeast corner of Peru.  Most importantly you will learn how biochar today can enrich our gardens and lawns, while fighting climate change!
