Dear Friends:

I would like again to extend an offer to you as the holidays approach and the darkness and cold descends on our evenings.  It seems that many around us, perhaps you, are exhausted from the barrage of news from within our country and beyond that has not been inspiring at all.  From politics to natural disasters, to an uptick in our own personal hurriedness and stress, it seems many would benefit from some respite.

Many of us already have ways that we can move outside the daily throng to a more spiritual place.  Some walk, or exercise, some read or take an art class.  Some involve themselves in a “helping’ project like volunteering at a food pantry, hospital or library.  Those are great things for keeping oneself connected to others and for feeling empowered when otherwise we might feel powerless to bring some positivity into the world.

I have found in my own life that I must balance my “activity” with quiet reflection time.  Sitting in silence, or letting a piece of music or short reflective poem wash over me without the need to respond, is just the balance that I need to become re-inspired in my daily living.  To that end, I would like to invite you to our sanctuary for the three Tuesday evenings from December 3rd through December 17th for a 45 minute evening Vesper service, from 6:00 to 6:45.

I hope you will come and let our beautiful church be the sanctuary it was built to be even on a Tuesday!  It has held all that has been in the hearts and on the minds of thousands since it opened in the early eighteenth century and it still has room for what you carry.

In faith,
Bob McKetchnie
