Charitable Giving at First Parish

The generosity of First Parish members has funded three important gifts this fall. The Outreach Committee was able to send a check for $1,803.50 to Sandy Hook Promise Foundation because of the plate donations made from July through October. This organization’s mission is to educate and empower youth and adults to prevent violence in schools, homes, and communities. They have confirmed their programs have saved 361 lives to date.

In addition, $1,000 each was sent to the United Way of Puerto Rico and the UUA Disaster Relief Fund for help with recovery from hurricanes Fiona and Ian. These funds came from the Community Outreach Fund, which is a Vanguard investment fund established many years ago with monies received from the filming of The Witches of Eastwick. The congregation has supported the Outreach Committee in managing the profits of this fund for use as charitable donations.

Thanks to each one of you who has made this giving possible!
