First Parish Plate Share for January and February 2023 supports Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism

Our Plate Share for January and February is in support of Black Lives of Unitarian Universalism.  BLUU is committed to expanding the power and capacity of Black UUs within Unitarian Universalism; providing support, information, and resources for Black Unitarian Universalists; and justice-making and liberation for Black people through our faith.

BLUU was founded in 2015 and has since transformed into an impactful charitable organization that creates life-giving and life-saving opportunities for spiritual community and Black-centered organizing. Since its founding, BLUU has hosted a symposium centering Black UU theology, established a popular virtual workshop space for Black people; organized UU congregations to donate and organize for bailout funds; created a BLUU Housing Initiative project, and started a vibrant youth ministry.

The BLUU website has more information about their projects and accomplishments.  You can also read the 7 Principles of Black Lives created as an adjunct to the 7 UU Principles there, at blacklivesuu.org/resource/7-principles-of-black-lives/

The Parish Committee has committed $500 per year for 3 years in support of BLUU.  Our plate share for January and February will be directed to this pledge.
