Freedom Trail Walk

Something a little different offered by Mary Toropov for her summer service on 8/16:

Mary is a Freedom Trail (FT) tour guide in her spare time.  Since several people at church have mentioned that they’d love to go on a FT tour with her, she's offering one for her summer service! 

Free, in honor of our nation’s 250th birthday.  All welcome.  All ages.

Here’s the plan:

Folks sign up in advance and meet at the ferry terminal in Hingham Shipyard to take the 9am ferry. Gets to Long Wharf at 9:55. 

Walk the downtown portion of the FT, (Common/State House/Granary Burial Ground/Old South Meeting House/Kings Chapel/Boston Massacre site/Faneuil Hall/Blackstone Block/etc...). Back to Long Wharf to meet the 12pm ferry for those who want to return then. About 90 minutes of walking/talking.  

Those who stay can go on to do the North End portion of the FT (Paul Revere House & Statue/Old North Church/Copps Hill Burial Ground/etc...), then have lunch together in the North End. Return to Hingham on the 2pm or 3pm ferry.

It will be about 1.5 miles of walking, with a couple of small hills (Beacon Hill, Copps Hill). We will not go over the bridge to the USS Constitution ship, but we will go to a good vantage point to take photos of it.

And for those who want to tour inside the Old North Church, the admission fee is $10.

RSVP to the office (admini@firstparishcohasset.org) if you'd like to come!  Let us know if you will be staying for lunch in the North End and indicate whether you'd like to tour inside the Old North Church. We need to make reservations!

Please note:  For those who are unable to attend the Freedom Trail Tour, the First Parish Meetinghouse will be open on August 16th at 9am.  Dan will offer a 30-minute service.
