Guest, Matt Meyer (musician, educator, worship leader), will explore the depth of tradition and the benefits of renovation through a journey at sea. Join us for a service of song and story as we reflect on what makes a ship seaworthy and a heart courageous.
Why do we sing the songs we sing in the service? I’ll look at half a dozen songs from our two hymnals, and talk about why they’re worth singing. I’ll also talk about some of the songs that we never sing, and why not.
Mothers (or really, all parents) are our first teachers. Even if you have no children, you’re still teaching those younger than you, whether you know it or not. So — what kind of teacher are you?
Memorial Day began as a way to memorialize those who died in the Civil War. We’ll look at one of the earliest of these memorial events — May, 1865, in Charleston, N.C. — to help understand why Memorial Day remains such an important U.S. holiday.
The order of service for the coming Sunday is posted here by Friday. You can use the order of service to follow along with the livestream service. *Please note, summer services (end of June thru end of August) do not follow an order of service nor are they live-streamed.
Worship services are livestreamed on the First Parish Youtube channel. View the livestream at 10 a.m. Eastern time, September through June. (Summer services are not livestreamed.)
A video of each service remains on Youtube for a month.
