In Memorium- Robine Andrau

First Parish extends condolences on the recent death of long-time friend, Robine Andrau.  Robine's family welcomes you to join them for an informal memorial gathering to celebrate Robine at the Lightkeepers Cottage, 15 Lighthouse Lane Cohasset, MA. Friends and family are welcome to stop by Thursday, April 9, 2026 any time between 4:00pm and 7:00pm.  In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Robine’s name to Rosie’s Place.

Robine Juliet Andrau of Scituate, MA, formerly of Woodstock, NY, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026 at the age of 88. Robine was born on October 31, 1937 in Sumatra, Indonesia to a Dutch father and a Hungarian mother. Their very international family included the oldest sister, Yvonne, born in Germany and middle sister, Maya, born in India. After living in many different countries the family eventually made their home base in Woodstock, NY where Robine met and married another Dutchman, Dominique Storm van Leeuwen.

Robine was educated at Middlebury College, Rutgers University, and University of Paris eventually earning her Masters Degree in Library Science from Simmons University in Boston. The majority of Robine’s career was as a textbook editor for a publishing company, but she was also an editor for the NFPA and for many independent authors. Her own writing career began with a column in the local Scituate Mariner which she wrote for decades. She is the author of several books, most notably “Bowing to the Emperor”, a historical account of her and her family’s experiences in a Japanese prison camp during WWII. 

Robine spoke several languages and loved to travel. She was a voracious reader, an avid gardener, and an incredible swimmer. A strong supporter of the arts and an advocate for women’s rights, her core beliefs led her to volunteer for several political campaigns and also to contribute generously to many associations that support women.

Robine leaves behind her daughter Tjona Storm, daughter Kieli Storm and husband Joe Dooley, and her grandchildren Jackson Dooley, Teagan Dooley and Cooper Prophet. Cards of condolence may be directed to Robine's daughters:
