We Unitarian Universalists like to talk about respecting the interdependent web of existence of which we are a part. This sounds very comforting — until we remember that, paraphrasing the poet, Nature is red in tooth and claw. Trying to make sense of these two very different views of the natural world is not an easy spiritual matter!
