Faith, Hope, and Kindness

Hope and kindness often seem to be central to our Unitarian Universalist faith. Is it enough to have hope, and to be kind? Are these simply matters of faith, not subject to rational argument? What does it mean to have faith, anyway? [Based on a question from last April’s Question Box Sermon.]
