Robert W. McKetchnie
The Reverend Robert W. McKetchnie has served as Minister at First Parish in Cohasset since August of 2016. In April of 2018 he was called by a unanimous vote of the congregation and in a service on September 30, 2018 he was installed as the 20th settled minister since Nehemiah Hobart in 1721.
Reverend Bob, as we all know him here, was born in the Bronx, New York, but his family moved to Jamaica Plain in Boston when he was ten months old. He is the seventh of eleven children. Bob received a Bachelor of Science and Art in business management at Northeastern University and a Masters of Divinity from Andover Newton Theological School in 2000. He has been serving churches in Massachusetts and Rhode Island for eighteen years, first as a settled minister Medfield for ten years and then as interim minister in East Greenwich, RI, and Attleboro and Fair Haven, MA.
Tracey Newman, Director of Religious Education.
Tracey lived for many years in Boston, working as an editor for 15 years at Boston’s Weekly Dig, the Reading Language Arts Department at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, and Educators Publishing Service in Cambridge. She earned a Masters of Education in Library Media at Salem State. Tracey is currently the Library Paraprofessional at Hingham High School, where she has also worked as an English Language Arts Paraprofessional and a long-term substitute English teacher.
Joel Davidson, Interim Music Director and Organist
Although we were saddened to hear that our Music Director, Luca Antonucci, will not be returning due to a physical condition that has interfered with his playing, we are happy to have Joel Davidson step in as Interim Music Director and organist. .
Joel studied music at Eastern Nazarene College in Wollaston, Milton Academy, Harvard
University and the New England Conservatory of Music. He is a Quincy native, an attorney, and high holiday cantor for a synagogue in Saugus.
Joel tell us his first job was as skeeball assistant at Paragon Park in Hull where both his grandparents lived, which is how he built up his arms to play piano and organ!!
“I’m looking forward to serving as interim music director at First Parish Cohasset!”
Administration & Operations
Sandy (left) and Andrea (right), or “Sandrea” as they have become known to us, will now be just “Andrea” with Sandy retiring as of July 2020. Andrea will continue to perform secretarial and administrative tasks and anything else needed to keep the church office and the Parish running smoothly, with Sandy as the very experienced back-up. The admin office also provides administrative support for our Carriage House Nursery School.
