The Cohasset Community Assistance Fund, CCAF, has a goal of providing short term financial support to Cohasset residents in need. This could include providing money for home bills, medical care, childcare, appliances, and even cars. Necessities look different for every family and every situation. Need is not always visible, and it is hard to notice in generally well-off communities. The CCAF wants to decrease the social stigma about receiving aid by spreading awareness about how common it is to need financial aid, even in a town like Cohasset. Currently, 19.6% of Cohasset residents use public health insurance, and 21% of Cohasset families are considered low income. Also, roughly 80 Cohasset families rely on the Cohasset Food Pantry for food and other basic necessities. The CCAF goal is to create another organization that can help all Cohasset residents in need of financial relief. First Parish member, Abby Rini, spearheaded a project to raise awareness and funds for CCAF. Our congregation has contributed $1,800 with hopefully more to come! If you’d like to contribute, please make check payable to “First Parish” and send your gift to the Parish House at 23 N. Main St. Cohasset, MA 02025. Make sure to indicate in the memo that it’s for CCAF. First Parish will be writing a lump sum monthly check to this worthy cause accounting for all gifts received. Any donation amount matters and will be deeply appreciated by recipients of this fund.
Below is the acknowledgment letter for our initial gift to CCAF.
